No cartoon nature doc voice, no cute animal bullshit, just the real creature and the real nightmare that made it make sense.
If you want an animal story where the creature is ordinary looking right up until the collective behavior turns the air into a weapon, meet the Africanized honey bee. One bee by itself is just a bee. Annoying maybe, medically important if you are allergic, but still one insect. The real creature here is the colony response. The switch flips, alarm pheromone spreads, and suddenly the sky around you is not "full of bees." It is one coordinated defensive decision made by thousands of bodies at once.

Humans made the reputation louder than the biology in some cases, but the biology earned enough of it to survive the bad journalism.
