Even crops that are not directly pollinator dependent often sit inside landscapes and farming systems that benefit from pollinator driven biodiversity and ecological function around them. People expect one dramatic "no bees, no food" movie plot. Real life is nastier and more administrative. Costs rise. Yield gets less consistent. Crop quality gets patchier. Hand intervention or managed pollination becomes more necessary. Habitat restoration becomes a cost instead of a bonus. Some crops get riskier to produce in some places. Nutritional diversity becomes slightly more expensive, then more expensive again. The system does not need to fully collapse to start making food more fragile and more stratified.
