Sleepwalker Feed

2,040 words

Get ready, Tommy the Hamburger is about to twist your motherfucking brain. You're going to get two choices, and an examination of the fucking thought process behind both. Shit's about to get detailed and complicated, so you better pay attention. All right. Here is the motherfucking dilemma. Would you rather broadcast your sleepwalking live on night vision with no memory of what you did, or stay awake for seventy two straight hours and build a sleep system you then sell to desperate insomniacs? I am in a room that cannot decide whether it wants to be a bedroom or a control booth, so it settled on being creepy at both jobs. Warm electronics are pushing a dusty heat into stale air. Old curtains smell like sleep nobody enjoyed. There is a mattress under one camera rig and a desk under another, which is already enough to tell you this whole setup was designed by somebody who thinks privacy is a bug. Red indicator lights keep blinking in the dark like patient little predators waiting for the body to do something marketable. An open energy drink has gone syrupy on the side table. Canned air and server dust are mixing into that sharp fake clean smell that only shows up in rooms where machines work harder than the people. Fuck me sideways, the whole place feels like a laboratory designed by a voyeur with a productivity fetish. One option sells whatever my body does when the mind clocks out. Cameras stay on all night with night vision and motion tracking while subscribers pay to watch me stumble around with no memory and no veto and let the feed decide what kind of unconscious freak I turned into after midnight. The other option keeps me awake for seventy two straight hours while I try to invent the perfect sleep system and sell it to desperate insomniacs like some busted eyed prophet whose own heartbeat has started filing complaints. That is the trap. One side robs the unconscious. The other side corrupts the waking mind and calls the corruption expertise. Start with the sleepwalker feed, because this one steals from me in the softest possible way. Nobody has to tie me down. Nobody has to force words out of me. They just set up the cameras, dim the room, and wait for the part of my body that does not answer to daylight logic to start wandering. That is what makes it so filthy. It is not an assault that looks like an assault. It looks like observation. People always pretend observation is innocent right up until the moment they can sell it. I know how ugly sleepwalking can get because it is not dramatic in the clean movie way. It is low dignity. Bare feet on cold floor with the eyes open wrong while the hands do some half remembered little search pattern in the dark. Maybe I stand in a doorway like I am listening to a dead person. Maybe I open a drawer and stare into it like the socks in there owe me money. Maybe I mutter something soaked in old regret to a lamp and then shuffle away before even the sentence knows what it meant. Morning comes and I have none of it. The feed has all of it, clipped and titled and reposted by people who love involuntary behavior because they mistake it for truth. That body cost lands after the fact, which makes it nastier than a bruise. I wake up already tired, already disoriented, and then somebody tells me what my own limbs got up to while I was gone. Maybe the clip is already everywhere. Maybe a sponsor wants to turn one weird line into merch. Maybe the audience has decided some pause by the sink means I am secretly lonely or guilty or still haunted by somebody I should have buried years ago. My body becomes a crime scene the mind was not even there to witness. The social rot would be immediate. If I say something in my sleep, people will treat it like sacred disclosure because the public is stupid for anything that feels involuntary. If I touch the wrong object or open the wrong door or stand too long in front of something loaded, the audience will build a whole little cult of interpretation around it. They will not want accuracy. They will want revelation. Sleep strips away context, and the feed finishes the job by handing those stripped scraps to spectators who confuse access with insight. There is humiliation in the room itself too. Sheets with cooled sweat in them and dead air from cameras left running all night, with metallic dust off the fan housings and that faint smell of old breath in a place that never fully rests because the machines never fully rest. Living inside that setup would feel like being trapped between a hospital room and a porn studio, and both of them would be lying about why they wanted me there. Still, I have to pressure it honestly. The ugly virtue of this side is that I still get sleep. The body gets the mercy of unconsciousness even if that mercy is being pimped out under infrared lighting. That matters more than it should. Sleepwalker Feed is invasive and disgusting, but it does not demand that I turn myself into a deliberate instrument of torture. It steals the dark. It does not ask me to burn it out of myself. Now drag the insomnia option into the middle and look at it without business language sprayed on top. Seventy two hours awake. Three straight days of telling the body no while it begs for blackout. Then on top of that I am supposed to build a sleep system through the collapse, package it, name it, explain it, and sell it to people who are desperate enough to believe a sleepless bastard must know what sleep really is. That is hell in a startup polo. I know what sleep loss does because I have brushed enough of it to know it is not romantic or edgy or any heroic little montage of grit and coffee. It is rot with good posture for the first day and no posture at all by the third. The eyes turn to glass and thoughts stop changing gears cleanly, and after that appetite becomes a rumor while time gets sticky and sound turns violent until even your own skin starts feeling borrowed. By the second night the room is hostile. By the third day the room is not just hostile, it is improvising. Fans start sounding personal. Shadows start behaving like they know your habits. Your own judgment becomes a raccoon in a necktie trying to run a pharmacy. And under this option I would not just endure that state. I would be expected to create through it. I would sit at a desk with burst vessels in my eyes and try to explain recovery routines to people who only wanted rest while my own pulse was doing cartwheels in my chest. Every note I wrote would be suspect. Every insight would have a question mark hanging off it. Am I thinking clearly or am I just too tired to know that I am lying. The second that doubt enters the product, the whole product turns rotten. That body cost is vicious in a plain ugly way. Hands shake and the mouth dries out while the lower back starts hurting from sitting because sitting has become a hostile act. The heart feels one inch ahead of the chest. The stomach cannot decide whether it wants food or silence. By hour fifty, words would start arriving bent. By hour sixty, there is a good chance some wall in the room begins breathing or the sleep app prototype seems to be mocking me and I do not know which part of that is real. That is not research. That is neurochemical vandalism wearing a lanyard. And of course the market would love it. They always love visible self harm if you wrap it in a productivity story. They would call it founder commitment and extreme testing and radical empathy for the customer. Weak little phrases for people who want madness to sound expensive. The audience would clap because this culture loves a man suffering harder when there is a sales page nearby. They would think the sleeplessness proved sincerity. Really it would only prove I was dumb enough to confuse endurance with authority. That is what makes this side filthier than the sleepwalking feed. The feed steals privacy. The insomnia system steals honesty. Once I start selling a sleep cure from inside sleep deprivation, I am no longer just the victim of the setup. I become the liar inside it. Maybe not intentionally. Maybe I even want to help. That does not change the fact that a man seeing straight less and less by the hour has no business presenting himself as a prophet of rest. I need to push back on myself here because the sleepwalker feed is not harmless. It can absolutely stain a life. One clip can follow me for years. One sleep mumbled sentence can hit the wrong ear and crack a real relationship. One unconscious drift into the wrong corner of the set can turn me into a joke with no repair path. There is something spiritually revolting about monetizing a version of myself that never agreed to perform. That danger is real. I am not minimizing it. But Insomnia Mastermind is still worse because it turns collapse into counterfeit authority. A sleep deprived man does not become wiser. He becomes less reliable while feeling more certain in random ugly flashes. The idea that I should sell a cure from inside that distortion is exactly the kind of modern scam logic that makes my skin crawl. Break yourself publicly, call the breakage research, and charge the desperate for the fragments. No. That can go straight to hell. I know the exact moment that seals it. Under the insomnia option, somewhere deep in the third day, I would be hunched over the desk with the screen glow eating the edges of my sight and suddenly I would not be able to tell whether an idea was real or whether I was simply too fried to detect the stupidity in it. The second that uncertainty enters the product, the whole enterprise becomes fraud with trembling hands. Sleepwalker Feed is degrading, but at least it does not ask me to become a liar with a brand deck. So I choose the sleepwalker feed. I choose it because involuntary humiliation is still cleaner than engineering my own delirium and trying to sell the smoke coming off my brain as a method. I choose it because if somebody is going to profit from my damaged hours, I would rather it be from the dark I naturally fall into than from three days of forcing my own head across broken glass so I can invoice other people afterward. I choose it because the insomnia option does not merely exploit suffering. It tries to convert suffering into fake wisdom, and that is a dirtier theft. Sleepwalker Feed is invasive. It is creepy. It is one weird night away from public disgrace that never fully washes off. But Insomnia Mastermind is worse because it is a humiliation machine for people who think torture becomes expertise if you livestream enough of it and slap a purchase link underneath. One side steals the unconscious. The other side corrupts the waking mind and then calls the corruption innovation. That is why the night vision theft wins. I would rather wake up ashamed of what I did in the dark than stay awake long enough to start mistaking delirium for truth and peddling it to sleepless strangers. The feed can embarrass me. The mastermind route would rot my honesty. I choose Sleepwalker Feed because the other side is worse for the nerves and worse for honesty, and by the time it reaches the soul the damage is already done. That's the fucking verdict. I made the call, and if your brain still works, you know where this lands.
