Muscle Open Source

2,404 words

Get ready, Tommy the Hamburger is about to twist your motherfucking brain. You're going to get two choices, and an examination of the fucking thought process behind both. Shit's about to get detailed and complicated, so you better pay attention. All right. Here is the motherfucking dilemma. Would you rather I upload every ounce of my muscle memory into the public domain so any motherfucker with the right hardware can download the body craft I spent years building, or keep all of it locked in my own frame while signing a contract that bans me from learning anything new after today? I am standing in a motion lab that smells like rubber mats and hot wiring with old sweat and chalk dust piled over both like the room has been failing people for years. Cameras hang from ceiling rails. Sensors blink from the walls. On my left there is a capture platform with pressure lights under black glass. On my right there is a steel desk with a contract thick as a cinder block and a biometric pen waiting for my hand. One side wants to strip mine the years out of my body. The other wants to lock the future and call it protection. The whole room is already snitching before either one of these parasites speaks. The platform is tracking me every time I shift my weight. A body map keeps blooming on the far wall with enough motion data to show all the secret little cheats the body learned because pain taught it faster than kindness ever could. Somebody on the lab team thought that looked elegant. It does not. It looks like the wall is licking me. The contract desk looks worse in a quieter way. There is a glass of water with neat tabs and a leather chair, all lined up around a page marker sitting right on the section where the no new learning clause starts. They dressed the coffin nice because they know a lot of people confuse neat paper with clean intent. The open source bastard starts first. Soft black hoodie. Expensive sneakers. Smile of a man who wants to rob me while giving a speech about fairness. He starts in on skill not belonging to gatekeepers, then slides into some sermon about bodies contributing knowledge to the commons before he finally lands on the part he actually cares about. Scanning my muscle memory would let hungry bastards leap past expensive barriers and access refined motion without the usual years of waste and pain. Waste and pain. That is where I almost put him through the glass. Waste and pain are the whole motherfucking point. All the barking reps, the injury detours, the hateful plateaus where the body is too stupid to listen for months. That is what built the thing he wants to dump in a public folder and label freedom. Then the contract woman takes her turn and somehow sounds even dirtier. Gray suit. Dead little smile. Eyes like she has spent half her life helping rich creeps trademark things that should have stayed alive. She says my current movement profile is commercially unique and should be protected from dilution, then starts talking about audiences connecting to stable identity and how freezing further learning would preserve the exact body language that made my skill valuable in the first place. Listen to the rot in that stack. She is not talking about keeping me safe. She is talking about shrink wrapping a living body because the current model tested well. If I take the public domain deal, they scan the whole hidden map. Not only the polished parts either. They want all the ugly little routes too, because those are what make the movement human and useful, especially the desperate fixes I built around pain and fatigue. Once that archive goes live, any bastard with cash for the rig gets to wear the residue of my suffering like a borrowed jacket. That is what gets under my skin first. Muscle memory is not a book. It is not a little tutorial packet floating free in the cloud. It is biography burned into tendons. It is all the dead ugly time nobody claps for, where humiliation and injury get mixed up with obsession until the body finally learns something useful. So when the hoodie ghoul calls it access, what I hear is simpler. He wants my body after the hard part is over. He wants the years where everything hurt, vanished, and then came back cleaner, except he wants to cut those years out and sell only the finish. The body cost there is not that I instantly forget how to move. I keep the skill. Fine. But the edge gets stripped down and sold off in pieces. Some soft handed bastard with zero history can step into a booth, run my package, and walk out with my timing ghosts living in his joints. He will not become me. That is not the insult. The insult is that he gets to skip the seasons where the body earned the right to know what it knows. He gets residue without history. The humiliation gets social fast. Once the scan goes public, every room turns weird. Some bastard watches me hit a clean sequence and tells me he downloaded a close version of that last month. Another one with half the discipline and none of the scars calls my own movement familiar because he rented the silhouette off a platform with good user reviews. Fuck me sideways, that is a nasty modern insult. It is not losing fair and it is not getting outworked. It is getting flattened into a reference file for tourists. There is reputation rot in it too. The more public the scan gets, the more the years behind it vanish in other people's heads. My hard won motion stops looking like craft and starts looking like infrastructure. People begin acting like excellence is just baseline access because enough copies can fake the outline. I would hear my own body talked about like a utility update. That would make me violent in the soul. Still, there is one thing on that side I cannot ignore. They can only steal what I already built. They cannot stop the next correction. They cannot freeze the next ugly little improvement the body figures out under pressure. If they clone the old map, I can still make a new one. It is theft, yes. It is gross theft. But it is theft with a horizon still open past it. Then I look back at the contract desk and the deeper filth shows up. If I sign the freeze clause, I keep everything I already know. Nobody gets the copies or the access. Great. But then I am done. Not done in public. Done in private, which is worse. The whole body would be trapped inside the current version with no permission to keep solving itself once damage or a better idea showed up. I would be forced to protect the current version of myself from the next version like the next version was a threat. That is sick. Bodies survive by adjusting. If something in me starts going wrong, the body has to be allowed to answer back or it starts dying in place. Under the freeze clause, adaptation becomes breach. Curiosity becomes breach. Improvement becomes breach. Some office parasite gets to call the body's survival instinct a legal violation. That is not protection. That is industrial embalming. The contract woman keeps trying to perfume it. She starts babbling about legacy and purity before landing on that diseased little line that discipline sometimes means refusing unnecessary evolution. That line almost makes me laugh hard enough to black out. Unnecessary evolution. A tailored ghoul really decided growth becomes unnecessary once branding attaches itself to the current version. She wants me to believe decline is dignity if the paperwork is tidy enough. The body cost there gets brutal fast. The second pain changes anything, I would be stuck standing there with the answer in my body and no legal right to use it. Every training session becomes a fight between the body's need to live and the contract's need to preserve product consistency. There is no clean way to do that for long. Either the paper loses or the body does. Emotionally it is even worse because the trap starts eating pride from the inside. Maybe the freeze flatters me for a minute and starts whispering that I am exclusive, protected, some signature model worth preserving. Then the weeks pile up. The body notices routes it wants to try and I have to tell it no. The mind sees the better form and I have to smother it because some paragraph says growth now belongs to legal review. Day after day the forbidden improvement sits right in front of me, close enough to taste, and I have to act like refusing it is maturity. That would rot a man in the slow office way. Not loud or cinematic, just administrative enough to kill the nerve slowly. The social side curdles too. At first people praise the purity because people are gullible and love a clean myth. They say things like locked in and true to the craft while I stand there feeling the coffin lid lower. Then the world keeps moving. Younger bastards solve problems with stranger mechanics while better training science rolls in and smarter corrections spread without me. And I am still over there guarding the old shape of myself like a museum volunteer shushing children near the display case. The same people who praised the purity start switching to softer funeral words and pretending that counts as respect. That is just manners draped over a burial. The system rot might be worst of all. Once freeze clauses exist, every ghoul with a stake in somebody else's body starts wanting one. It would not stop with me either. They would freeze anybody they could pin down to a profitable shape and call that respect for the brand. The whole rule is built to kill change before investors get nervous and to choke off learning before the product drifts. One body gets mummified for profit and the whole room starts asking where the wrapping paper is. Then the lab quits pretending. A side rig boots up and throws old capture ghosts across the wall. I watch a borrowed body run my exact ugly recovery step after a bad pivot, plus the shoulder hitch I built after one mean old injury. The hoodie bastard sees me recognize it and starts smiling wider like he thinks I should feel honored. All I feel is proof that his precious commons starts with a body getting gutted. Then the contract software lights up with a compliance preview. A movement score drifts upward from some hypothetical training session and the system slaps a red violation label over it. Not for misconduct or abuse either. The alarm goes off for improvement itself. There it is. Knife on the table. Both sides finally stop lying. Now I am pacing between the platform and the desk because both options make my skin want to crawl off my bones. The platform wants the past harvested. The desk wants the future padlocked. One side strips value out of what I already built, and the other side forbids the building from ever continuing. One wants to rob me in public. The other wants me to assist in my own preservation until preservation turns into decay with better branding. So I run the real future in my head instead of the sales copy. If I choose open source, I get scanned and I watch cheap copies of my body spread everywhere parasites gather to love the finish while hating the cost that made it. That would piss me off every single day. But the anger would still point outward. It would still have a target. And I could still train, fail, adapt, and become harder to copy than whatever fossil they scraped off me last week. If I choose the freeze clause, the trap closes from inside. It flatters me first, then quietly starts preserving me until the body turns into a shrine to what it used to know. There is no room for a new answer when pain arrives and no honest evolution when age shifts the balance, only maintenance of the old self until the old self starts smelling like dust. That is the worse death. Not because it hurts harder in one moment. Because it teaches me to protect my own obsolescence and call that wisdom. That is the hinge. I would rather be robbed than sealed shut. I would rather watch scavengers chase the version I already was than sign a paper saying I am no longer allowed to become anybody else. Theft can still be outrun. Freeze cannot. Freeze is the kind of trap that makes a man help carry his own coffin because the handles are wrapped in premium leather. So I choose Muscle Open Source. I choose Muscle Open Source because being copied is still better than being embalmed alive by a motherfucker with a contract and a smile. The open source side is filthy. I know that. It steals years of pain packed knowledge and hands it to lazy bastards who want the finish without the cost. But the other side is worse because it turns growth itself into a problem and makes survival look like brand inconsistency. That losing side is a humiliation machine. It would make me police my own evolution until I turned into legacy merchandise with a pulse. That is why the freeze clause loses. The public scan can steal the old map, but it cannot stop me from building the next one. The contract side wants the current version of me nailed in place while the real body keeps begging to live. Let the scavengers take what is already behind me. Let them choke on it while I keep moving. The hoodie ghoul can choke, the contract woman can choke harder, and I will still take the theft I can outrun over the polished little coffin that wants my future signed away at a steel desk under clean office light. That's the fucking verdict. I made the call, and if your brain still works, you know where this lands.
